Job Description

Provide candidates with a clear understanding of responsibilities, team environment, and project scope.

NorthSea Subsea Robotics is seeking an experienced Subsea Project Engineer to support offshore subsea installation, inspection, maintenance, and intervention projects across the North Sea region. Working closely with project managers, offshore construction teams, vessel crews, ROV personnel, and client representatives, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and mobilization through offshore execution and project close-out. This role offers exposure to complex subsea operations involving ROV systems, subsea structures, pipelines, umbilicals, cables, and associated offshore infrastructure supporting the energy sector.

The Subsea Project Engineer will prepare and review engineering documentation including method statements, lift plans, installation procedures, work packs, risk assessments, technical drawings, and operational readiness reviews. The position requires active participation in project planning meetings, interface management with internal and external stakeholders, equipment mobilization activities, vendor coordination, and offshore campaign support. During offshore operations, the engineer will monitor project progress, provide technical guidance to vessel teams, coordinate engineering changes, and ensure activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client specifications, industry standards, and company procedures.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of offshore construction methodologies, subsea installation practices, and marine vessel operations. Experience supporting ROV-based inspection campaigns, subsea intervention projects, cable or pipeline installation activities, or offshore renewable energy developments will be highly regarded. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and the capability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams operating in demanding offshore environments. Previous exposure to North Sea operations, NORSOK requirements, IMCA guidelines, and offshore safety management systems will be advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate subsea engineering activities throughout project execution.
  • Develop installation procedures, engineering calculations, and work packs.
  • Support offshore mobilization, sea fastening, and equipment readiness reviews.
  • Liaise with clients, classification societies, subcontractors, and vessel management teams.
  • Monitor project progress and provide engineering support during offshore campaigns.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and operational reviews.
  • Review technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and vendor deliverables.
  • Support change management processes and engineering deviation assessments.
  • Assist in project reporting, lessons learned, and post-project evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with company QHSE requirements and client standards.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting subsea construction, inspection, maintenance, or intervention projects.
  • Familiarity with ROV operations and subsea tooling systems.
  • Working knowledge of IMCA guidelines and NORSOK standards.
  • Experience working onboard offshore construction, diving support, or ROV vessels is advantageous.
  • Strong planning, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel offshore on rotational assignments when required.
